Corner of Elmira & Paisley Development?

Aug 8th, 2014:

I've had a few inquiries as to what's being proposed to be developed at the corner of Elmira and Paisley. Especially with the crane put up this week. Here's the answer from city staff:

Hi Cam,

This site was rezoned in the late 80s and registered as part of the greater Mitchell Farm Subdivision at the same time as the zehrs site in the late 90s. It was zoned standard R. 4B - High Density Residential at that time, with no building details. Registration and site plan approval are both staff led processes and didn’t require a report or vote of Council.

The site has just gone through site plan approval and a foundation permit has been approved.  In total, there will be four apartment buildings along Paisley Road. They are starting at the corner with the tallest building. It’s going to be 10 storeys and contain 180 apartment units. The next two buildings will be 8 storeys high and 126 units. The fourth building, closest to the Scotia Bank plaza, will be 6 storeys high and they haven’t  received site plan approval for this building yet.

Hope that helps with the basics. The developer is called “Joylife” out of Kitchener and the units are proposed to be higher end rentals. Just let me know if you have further questions.
